Peru Import Volume Up 235% on the Week to 672 Units

Peru onion imports reached 672 units (10,000-lb units) for the week of October 29, up 234.9% week over week per USDA movement reports and 151% above the five-year median. At mostly $26.00-28.00 per 40-lb carton (USDA shipping-point, October 30), Peru yellow jumbo runs well above Idaho-Eastern Oregon yellow jumbo, which sits at mostly $13.00 per 50-lb sack at the same date.

• Colorado shipments: 315 units, up 7,300.0% week over week from near-zero levels per USDA movement reports, still 32% below the five-year median. Volume has returned but remains below seasonal norms.
• Mexico border crossings: 14 units, up 1,728.1% week over week, 52% above the five-year median per USDA movement reports. Absolute volume remains small.
• Oregon exports (trailing 28-day total): 1,367 units over the past four weeks, 339% above the five-year median of four-week totals and up 172% versus the prior four weeks per USDA movement reports.
• Wisconsin shipments: 97 units, up 278.5% week over week, though 41% below the five-year median per USDA movement reports.
• Washington white medium 50-lb sacks at $21.50 (USDA shipping-point), 65% above the five-year median, unchanged week over week. Washington white jumbo 50-lb sacks at $23.50, 57% above the five-year median, also unchanged.
• Washington yellow jumbo: mostly $11.00-12.00, 50-lb sacks (USDA shipping-point, October 30). New York yellow medium: mostly $13.00, 50-lb sacks (USDA shipping-point, October 30).
• Utah shipments: 17 units, down 50% week over week and 93% below the five-year median per USDA movement reports.
